Guaranteed to be of interest to several people on my flist: a complete box set of Daria will be out on DVD on May 11. (Sadly, it sounds like it might be Region 1 only for now, but that's what region-free DVD players are for.)
archersangel: for suquee-worthy moments. (squee)

Yes. Yes, I had noticed that.

A person on Youtube had posted most of the series, organized by season and in 2-3 chunks per episode. (Weirdly reversed, for some reason.) Viacom noticed and seems to have gotten clever about the removals. They don't seem to have challenged the account as a whole, which they could easily have done. Most of the first parts have been left alone, many of the second parts, and even the very occasional full episode. But for the most part, they've had him take down parts 2-3 of an episode, leaving part 1 as a teaser. Very clever, indeed.

La la la la.

(This would make an awesome Mother's Day gift for my mom. Yes, my 62 year old mom LOVES "Daria". And Jane. And Trent.)

Thanks! I like to think that she is cool too. :) She was/is always very open to trying out the stuff we were/are into and definitely liked some of it, for example, Buffy, Daria, My So Called Life, James, Smashing Pumpkins, The Ramones (she really likes "Gonna Be Sedated"), and...wait for it... METALLICA. I would hope to be a mom like that if I ever do become a mom.
I am trying to get her to try to like Doctor Who. She hasn't watched it, but she is definitely aware enough of it to call me to let me know the new season started. She did watch Hamlet last night on my rec, but we haven't followed up.

Gah! Thank you so much for posting this! Best. News. Ever. I loved Daria so much back in high school, but then it disappeared off tv and out of my head until I saw some Daria caps on tumblr the other day. And then I felt a terrible sadness that I would probably never see the show again. UNTIL NOW! XD

I would express more enthusiasm, but that seems un-Daria-like.
ext_428825: (fluffy hat of awesome)

Yah, I've never got the torrent thing. I'm old fashioned: tv is for the tv and intertubes are for the computer and never the twain shall meet. Honestly though, I'm surprised that Viacom's marketing department and their brethren haven't realised what a goldmine they have in their back catalogue. I mean, releasing shit is their job. How hard is it to just make everything available so we don't have to break the freaking law to watch stuff we love?
Sorry, that was a bit ranty :D

My British ex used to call me "Daria."
