I have no idea what date we're going, or where we're sitting other than some kind of balcony (based on the amount charged to my card), but WE HAVE RSC TICKETS!!!

I figure this is as good a place as any to ask this question: What is this "woot" or "wo0t" thing? Is it another acronym like "LOL"? I'm a big fan of "Whoo-hoo!" myself, but I wonder if that's low-tech and just not l33ty enough.

I've always heard that it's derived from exclamations used while playing online games, and that's what Google seems to think, too.

I knew I would kick myself for the rest of my life if I didn't go. I haven't been to England in more than 20 years, and how many other chances am I going to have to see DT in his prime onstage?

Tickets turned out to be surprisingly reasonable, too, especially in comparison to a Broadway show. I was perfectly willing to pay for the most expensive seats (which we didn't get, due to availability), and those were about $76 US -- I know I paid something close to $100 for balcony seats for Avenue Q.

Yeah, I was in England about 5 years ago. If I was to go see DT, I would go by myself (Mike just... doesn't like the theater). I also don't much like either play he's in, which I know is totally blasphemy. There are other Shakespeare plays that I enjoy much much more. I've got mixed feelings about it all, which is why I decided not to go.

columbina isn't joining me; I'm going with my sister and some friends. (columbina isn't interested in a long transatlantic trip.)

And yes, you blaspheme the name of Hamlet, one of my favorite Shakespeare plays! I've neither seen nor read Love's Labour's Lost -- my friend lunchboy, who'll be joining me on the trip, says it's lightweight -- but DT does romantic comedy so well I'm happy to see it anyway.

Now, to figure out how I'm going to pay for the flight and accommodations ...

Yeah, Hamlet, like Romeo and Juliet, is a bit overrated for me. I think it's some of Shakespeare's finest writing, but I prefer Much Ado About Nothing and Richard III. It's a very personal dislike: I don't care for any of the characters in Hamlet (I used to like Romeo and Juliet until I read it as an adult and realized that Romeo is stupid and Juliet, although more intelligent, loses a lot of points for liking stupid and overly dramatic Romeo). There's characters for me to like in Much Ado and Richard III! I love DT's performance in the audio play of the former.

If I went, it would be completely on my own, which has its own appeal... but I just couldn't get enough enthusiasm to break out the credit card and go.
