Am currently full of beer and food from the Cambridge Brewing Company's Brewer's Dinner tonight. SO MUCH BEER. I didn't even finish half my beer (or half my dinner), but man, it was good. I would like to kiss whoever came up with the idea of brewing beer with peppercorns.

[livejournal.com profile] columbina had the oyster bisque, the duck rillettes, and the venison (all of which came with malty and/or fruity beers I don't like), while I had the celery root soup, the frogs' legs (first time eating those!), and the rabbit stew. We both had the cheese plate and barleywine flight for dessert; I wasn't sure I'd like the barleywine, but all three were delicious, and the Stilton was one of the most perfectly ripe pieces of cheese I'd ever had.

It's a good thing we decided to walk to and from the T (a mile each way) instead of driving. Lord knows we needed the exercise after this.

Wow. Sounds amazing.

I require a walk and a nap just after reading the menu. And lordy, am I jealous.

I haven't been out to eat anyplace "fancy" (read: with courses and recommended drinks) since Valentine's Day. However, my anniversary is coming up in a month... time to hit Hubs' co-worker who caters on the side for restaurant recommendations again. Both of the places he sent us to last year were brilliant.

Is the peppercorn beer available on the regular menu? Because if it is, I think I know where I'd like to get dinner the day after Thanksgiving.

It was not. In fact I commented that it was possibly the only beer in the dinner which I had NEVER seen appear as part of their regular listings. I don't know if they pulled it out of a hat just for this dinner or what.
