8am-8:10am: Unexpected pre-meeting phone call.
8:10am-8:30am: Breakfast
8:30am-8:40am: Last-minute email checking and meeting prep.
8:40am-8:55am: Remove last bits of snow and ice from car.
8:55am-9:20am: Drive to client site.
9:30am-12:15pm: Client meeting. (Note: this was supposed to end at 11:30am. However, it resulted in slack time being added to the schedule, so WIN.)
12:25pm-12:45pm: Drive home.
12:45pm-1:10pm: Lunch.
1:10pm-1:30pm: Catch up on all the email missed while out at meetings.
1:30pm-1:35pm: Discover that new "Voyage of the Damned" promo is online. Watch it twice, because it is awesome.
1:35pm-5:04pm: Email. Phonecalls. More email. IMs, business and personal. More fucking phonecalls. More email. STILL MORE FUCKING PHONECALLS. Short break to make rosemary walnuts for friend's party this evening. YET MORE EMAIL. Unexpected additional business proposal work.

Is it cocktail hour yet? It had better be.

Maybe I'll split the difference and go looking for an image of the alternate logo that people say is shown. I don't even know if they're talking about the same promo, but I'm getting nervous about logo/credits/theme stuff.

I don't know how much you already know about VOTD, so I don't know how spoilery it will be for you. Some of the shots already turned up in the BBC holiday promo that showed a couple of weeks ago, but there's a voice-over at the end that I definitely hadn't heard, and some shots of the Titanic and the, er, stuff threatening it.

I guess I'm spoiled as to the nature of the Titanic. I mostly like to avoid clips from the actual episode, but I'm tempted.

(Does he really say he's 903? Getting that specific about it when it doesn't fit in with the old series' continuity and also implies rather unpleasant things about the duration of his 9th incarnation seems kinda dumb.)

He really does say he's 903. Since RTD opened this can of worms himself back in "Aliens of London," he probably considers this line consistent with his continuity, and therefore doesn't give a shit what any other fan thinks. (We'll all just fanwank it anyway as the Doctor's vanity causing him to lie about his age, right?)

If it helps you make a decision about whether to watch the clip, there's no dialogue in any of the scenes other than this voice-over at the end.

D'oh. "900" sounds more like an estimate than a specific, exact age, but if he's really setting it in stone that three years have elapsed since "Aliens of London," that really limits interpretation. I always figured he did spend about two years traveling with Rose, but he also spent a year on the Valiant and didn't get it erased, and that leaves him very little time to have traveled with Martha (even though months probably elapsed in both "Human Nature" and "Blink") and almost no gap between TRB and S&J.

And that really, really is not the kind of thing one ought to be trying to analyze about this show. Besides, commercial voice-overs aren't canon.

I don't know why the recipe isn't on Epicurious -- maybe Gourmet hasn't posted its recipes from as far back as 1992? But in any case, the walnuts are about the easiest thing in the world to make, not to mention completely addictive:

Mix 8oz. shelled walnuts with 2 1/2 tbsp. melted butter, 2 tsp. crumbled dry rosemary, 1 tsp. salt, and 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper. Bake in 350 degree oven for 10 minutes. Try not to eat them all at once.

I do love that it specifies shelled walnuts. It's like one of the little warning labels for things you never think competent people would do. Hee. I shouldn't mock, but it's too much fun.

Well, actually, that was me specifying that ;-) but there's a good reason to specify that kind of thing anyway, which is that 8oz. of walnuts in the shell will yield less than 8oz. of shelled walnuts!

I did find a really good Label for the Stupid on a box of frozen pizza this week, though: it was something like "use potholders and both hands to remove pizza from oven." No, Stouffer's! I defy you with my one-handed pizza removal technique!

Hey, EVERYONE knows one hand is needed to hold open the damn stove door! UNLESS one uses a foot (and there should be warning: "check that you wear thick socks before holding the stove door open with your foot!"), but dealing with a panful of hot pizza while standing on one foot is quite a feat of dexterity ...
