I wonder if the cut scene was supposed to replace the kiss and TARDIS noise entirely? I finally started reading the TSE/JE section of the Series 4 Companion yesterday, and it mentioned that the kiss was a last-minute insertion.
Of course, this makes me wonder how that scene would have gone without it:
ROSE: And you, Doctor?
HANDY: (whispers in her ear)
ROSE: Well, that settles that, then. See ya, Doctor! Handy and I are off behind these rocks for a quick shag.
