I come to this late but like it hugely nonetheless. There isn't enough Bluesuit Doctor fiction that's not about Rose, but doesn't cast Rose aside either, and there aren't nearly enough stories about Ace, full stop. Ace and Seven were my team Tardis when I was at my most fervently fannish and I love them dearly, still.
I very much like this Ace, all spiky and ferociously bright but subtly different, and I love the way that their encounter knocks both of them off balance.
It's so hard to write a satisfying piece of fanfiction which ends unresolved, on a dischord; the temptation is always to resolve into harmony because that's the way the human brain thinks stories should go. This one works so well because it knocks the reader off balance too, but there's that small tone of hope there too. Thanks for writing it.
