I think I was using ISO 800. In fact, I'm pretty sure I was, because I tried the slowest speed I could first, assuming it would help, but it actually looked terrible -- so I kept moving the speed up until I settled on 800.
I'll have to go look up how the night mode works (I tried it briefly, but things looked like ass with or without the flash) and figure out how to muck with the settings to increase the exposure level.
It doesn't help that it was so windy here today that the candle kept blowing out and what little flame there was flickered wildly. Hopefully tomorrow's weather will be calmer.
