nonelvis: (STAR TREK Logic (Spock/Uhura))
[personal profile] nonelvis
I'm a little too distracted this evening to get any real writing done, hence: A MEME, acquired from [livejournal.com profile] calapine.

Name a TV show series in which you have seen every episode at least twice:
The original series of Star Trek. There was a time when I could have told you within the first five seconds or so of an episode what its title was, but I'm out of practice now.

Name a (current) show you can't miss:
The Amazing Race, one of the few reality shows I love. If I were a) in much better shape than I am, and b) were not a total control freak who tends to flip out when travel arrangements don't work out the way I want, I would actually consider trying out for this show. I can make myself understood in several languages, I'm not afraid to eat unusual food, and unlike a disturbing number of contestants, I can drive a stick shift.

Name an actor that would make you more inclined to watch a show:
Other than David Tennant? Alan Tudyk. He makes everything better.

Name an actor who would make you less likely to watch a show:
David Caruso.

Name a show you can, and do, quote from.
The Simpsons. Often, and at length.

Name a show you like that no one else enjoys:
The Real World/Road Rules Challenge, one of the only other reality shows I'll watch, though God alone knows why. The participants are almost all dumb as rocks and not even that pretty to look at. Maybe I just enjoy watching stupid people make fools of themselves?

Name a TV show which you've been known to sing the theme song:
I don't usually sing TV theme songs, but I admit that I can no longer hear the original Star Trek theme without thinking of the cheesy lyrics.

Name a show you would recommend everyone to watch:
Modern TV: Lost and Mad Men. Older stuff: The Avengers.

There's also this show about an alien in a police box I rather like, too.

Name a TV series you own:
[livejournal.com profile] columbina and I own quite a bit of TV on DVD, some of which is less embarrassing than others. For example, we own The Young Ones ... and also the complete run of Stripperella.

What is your favourite episode of your favourite series?
"City of Death." Probably one of the first episodes of Doctor Who I ever saw, and I still love it.

A show you mean to watch, but you just haven't gotten around to yet:
I would clearly enjoy the nerd humor of The Big Bang Theory, but the odds that I'll ever get around to picking it up this far into the series are low. Still, you never know.

Ever quit watching a show because it was so bad?
24. I forget what season it was that bored me so much I finally gave up on it -- five, maybe, or six -- but not even Chloe's awesomeness was enough to get me to tune in the following season.

Name a show you aren't interested in watching, not in the least:
The Bachelor. The Bachelorette. Any reality dating show. EVER.

Name a show that's made you cry multiple times:
Does crying at the end of the DS9 finale count if it happens every time I watch it?

Oldest TV show you like?
Probably the The Avengers or The Saint. We have the entire runs of both on DVD.

Newest TV show you like?
V. I have fond memories of the cheesetastic goodness of the original series. Sue me.

What do you eat when you watch TV?
Frequently, it's lunch -- an advantage of working at home is that I can catch up on the previous night's recordings!

How often do you watch TV?
When the shows I like are on, probably a couple hours a day. Right now it's not more than about an hour or so, sometimes less. Col and I are Jeopardy! addicts, though, so we almost always catch that during dinner if it's on.

Do you have a favorite talk show?
Talk shows usually bore me. The closest I get to that is occasional recordings of The Daily Show.

What's the last TV show you watched?
Other than the aforementioned Jeopardy! this evening, last night's episode of Castle at lunchtime. Nathan Fillion is ♥.

What's your favourite/preferred genre of TV?
Science fiction, speculative fiction, whatever the hell the kids are calling it these days.

What's your least favourite genre of TV?
Anything with one talking head shouting at another talking head, especially when both are on Fox News.

What was the first TV show you were obsessed with?
Oh, God. I think it might have been Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. I had a crush on Gil Gerard and everything. I was nine, cut me a break.

What TV show do you wish you never watched?
Can I erase most of the last two seasons of The X-Files from my brain? Good.

What's the weirdest show you enjoyed?
Off the top of my head: Aeon Flux. There were times when it sort of made sense. There were far more times when it didn't. I didn't care, because whatever it was, it was fucking cool.

What TV show scared you the most?
To this day, I don't think I've ever been able to watch the X-Files episode "Home" more than once. It's the one with the inbred family. Yeah, that one.

What is the funniest TV show you have ever watched?
Old episodes of The Simpsons get me every time.

Which do you think is the best TV series ever made?
This is just about impossible to answer, since some of my favorite shows are still not things I would consider to be the best series ever made, even if they are objectively excellent shows. So I suppose I'm going to cheat a little and go with something that technically isn't a series so much as a collection of shorts: Schoolhouse Rock. Still entertaining after all these years.
