50 Recipes 2011, #8: quick sausage sauce
Feb. 9th, 2011 08:55 pmI've been watching Worst Cooks in America -- I have no idea why, because watching the contestants make basic cooking errors is incredibly frustrating -- but on Sunday, they made a quick sausage ragù over polenta cakes that looked really good. I didn't plan on going to the trouble of making my own sausage as the first step, which frankly negates the "quick" part of the recipe title, in my opinion. Also, I decided to serve this over mashed potatoes, because much as I enjoy polenta, we have a good three pounds of CSA potatoes that need eating.
It's a very easy recipe, and I'll agree it's quick, assuming you have pre-made sausage and a food processor to mince the vegetables as required; I'll probably try it again over the polenta at some point. And if I ever get around to ordering the sausage grinder attachment for my KitchenAid I've been meaning to buy for forever now, maybe I'll even make it with my own sausage.
