Oh, man, you would LOVE QI. It's a quiz show hosted by Stephen Fry; a changing cast of four comedians makes up the panel, who try to answer trivia questions, or at least make up the most interesting response. Alan Davies is always one of the four, and he almost always loses, deliberately or not. The website will tell you more about it, and there are many episodes available on YouTube -- I am pretty sure the episode that features Rich Hall's quote about Venus is this one.
RPF stands for "real person fiction," or fanfic written about real people. The Wikipedia page covers it pretty thoroughly. It is something I try not to read, much less write; just not my thing.
