OK, I tried it out, and it's completely hooked me. The writing, the acting and the characters are just terrific (except for Rory -- he's just as big a dummy being 2000 years old as he was at 20; you'd think all that time would have changed him in some fashion). The Silence are such fantastic villains, I can't believe someone didn't think of them already. If I were Moffat, I'd spend several hours a day just giggling to myself at all the incredible shit I was thinking up to pull on people.
So a few questions that you may or may not have insights into: 1) We were supposed to be thinking River's in prison for killing the Doctor, right? And that's probably a misdirection, yes?
2) I was speculating who might be in the astronaut suit at the Lake -- the Doctor says, "I know it's you." So it can't be River in the suit because the River at the picnic would know it was she, and for that to be true, she'd have to be a fantastic actor (though it might explain why she missed with her six-shooter -- she wasn't trying to kill her earlier self -- the only time she's ever missed, as far as I can tell). Or, do you think it's Amy's daughter in the suit?
3) The little girl is Amy's daughter, and she's a Time Lord, and she regenerates at the end of the second episode, yes?
You know, I remember the moon landing. But Armstrong's first step came around 10 p.m. Eastern time, and I had fallen asleep, and my goddam parents DIDN'T WAKE ME UP. I was so incredibly bitter the next day. So I was chuckling to myself during the payback scene because I would have been stuck still doing the Silence's bidding instead of revolting against them. Hee hee.
