A slightly modified version of a meme snagged from
chicklet73:
I know very little about some of the people reading this LJ. Some people I know relatively well. I read your journals, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. (AND I KNOW YOU'RE LURKING, BECAUSE I HAVE LJTOYS. HAHAHAHA! But it's okay to lurk, really, do it myself all the time.) Anyway, no matter why you're here, I thank you for your interest in the latest stupid thing I have to say.
But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself? Any old thing at all, the more trivial and fascinating, the better. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so... they enjoy juggling fish and have memorized the title of every single episode of Star Trek."
I'd love it if every single person who's reading this entry would do this. Yes, even you people whom I know really well. (Besides, this will give me something amusing to take the edge off after I survive a 3-hour meeting this afternoon.) Then post this in your own journal and see what gems of knowledge appear.

on 2007-12-19 06:15 pm (UTC)I used to consider English language my personal enemy as a pre-teen - who can feel anything save contempt for a language that spells a word John only to pronounce it as Mary?
Before I learned to drive in my thirties, I had dreams about being able of drive a car just like I dream about being able to fly.

on 2007-12-19 08:40 pm (UTC)And I am so old that the year I went to freshman orientation at UT, they kept making all these jokes that I didn't understand, involving a big guy with a black helmet. I finally figured out that they had to do with this movie called Star Wars, which I went to see as soon as I got home.

on 2007-12-31 10:46 pm (UTC)my teddy bear is plotting against me.
i would rather clean something than eat, shower, work, talk to people or watch tv.
i would rather read than clean something.
i have a college degree but i lost the four square foot paper it's printed on before i'd owned it a year.
i hate appointments.
i am a ricer, and as such cannot resist maintaining, repairing, restoring, hacking, or customizing nearly everything i own or am exposed to frequently.
i have spent a lot of time recently thinking of the character development of Hank Hill (King of the Hill) and Sam Vimes (Discworld) and mapping it to my own life.
i like cheese a lot.

on 2008-01-24 10:00 pm (UTC)Oh, right, and I found your journal looking at what people wrote about this year's Mystery Hunt, and kept reading because I'm procrastinating. :-)
