Ah, that makes some sense, apart from that it still doesn't explain where the NC comes in. The British system isn't that rational either, relying on numbers some of the time (15 and 18, as in you have to be that age to see them) and letters at other times, like U for anyone can see it. G makes more sense than U, at least.
A lot of those questions don't make sense to someone who writes such a broad range of characters, I suppose...
