Hee. Thanks for this. I'm rather fond of Bernard, and I'm sympathetic to all the angsting about plausible if handwavy science. I need to maintain reasonable suspension of disbelief. Once you establish some quasi-reasonable science, I'm content with "TARDIS magic" as an explanation.
