State of the Hunt

As far as I can tell, this year's Mystery Hunt is still running nearly 59 hours after it first began, though our team captain headed home for good about an hour ago, and I'm about done myself. (I've at least been home most of the day, what with all the snow, and have been collaborating with the team remotely.) I don't know whether to offer the Bombers congratulations or my sympathies for having a Hunt run longer than ours did last year – perhaps I should stick with my friend jagpatel's phrase, "condulations."

I have loads of things I want to post about the Hunt, especially about the round that I saw for the first time last night right as I was about to go to bed, and which made me howl in anguish so loudly I'm surprised the team couldn't hear me all the way over in building 4. I'd say that lunchboy was trying to kill me by arranging to have that round posted so late, but he had nothing to do with when our team got access to it.

Anyway, more tomorrow, including a photo or two, after I (ugh) get some work done.

I hope you will post the picture taken for the scavenger hunt. I took one of PDP as Little Red Riding Hood for the "impress us" costume party, whose answer the Bombers gave us as a token of mercy.

I'm going through the photos this afternoon. Just in from (oof) more shoveling, and I have to shower and get some work done first.

My feeling is that I want to thank the Bombers for having a hunt longer than ours, as it makes us officially, Not the Team that Had the Longest Hunt in the Past Two Years.

OTOH, I pretty much had a fantastic time throughout, so I'm not particularly bothered by the whole running long thing.

I was NOT on the winning team, which I am very, very happy about. Beginner's Luck found the coin about 3 this morning. I trust them to make a kickass hunt, that I don't have to be involved with constructing. Woo hoo!

I was thinking about you when working on this round. Sorry that I am not much of a fan of Dr. Who, but I was asking my teammates stuff about the doctors (like the stuff in the round's flavor text being in character for Ten) and realizing how much you'd enjoy the round. Sorry that you got access to it so late; it was not long after this post that we got our seventh solution in the round and soon afterward I made the critical observation that made solving the meta possible.

We found the coin at 3:02 AM, a little over 3 hours after solving the last meta. About an hour of that time was due to a problem in the runaround that took time to get straightened out.

I don't know who wrote the flavortext for the various Doctor puzzles, but they did a really good job. There are any number of fan authors who could learn from that constructor, to be honest.
