This list is in no particular order and is pretty heavy on the late 80's/early 90's bands, because that's when I was young and could stay up late and didn't have a spouse who dislikes going to see live music. (Though I have successfully dragged him to several Richard Thompson shows, so there's that.)

I am a hermit. I haven't seen many bands live. There's just too many people and it's always so crowded and stuff. Plus, it doesn't help that the last "bands" that I've seen live are college a cappella groups.

(I've seen none on this list live and I'd be very hard-pressed to come up with a list of the non-college a cappella bands I've seen live without resorting to the Joan Baez concert I saw when I was 8.)

I am filled with benevolent jealousy that you got to see Kirsty MacColl. Billy Bragg, U2, and Love and Rockets could also have appeared on my list. And it's YOUR OWN FAULT that you were unable to keep Andrew Bird from my list. He was right there at the Middle East!!!

You will be even more jealous when I tell you that when columbina and I saw Kirsty (one of the few shows I've been able to drag him to), there was an equipment failure of some kind, so while the crew fixed it, she sang her filler song, "Lydia the Tattooed Lady."

I can only hang my head in shame about Andrew Bird. I hate going to shows by myself, and you-know-who wouldn't go with me.
