APAD(ish) #4: Foliage

Supposedly all the rain we got earlier this summer is going to result in a spectacular foliage season. One of the maple trees in the Shaw's parking lot is busy getting started.

There's a purple maple on my way to work which has burst out in all sorts of colours. I keep meaning to take a picture.

I am envious of fall color. Things here are lovely, but they tend to go from green to dead in a couple of days with no attractive in-between.

My husband, a Louisiana boy, says he remembers his elementary school teachers putting up cutouts of red, orange, and yellow leaves when autumn rolled around. He says it always confused him, because he thought leaves were supposed to turn brown and fall off the tree.

This is a winner.

You've gotten a nice "bokeh" effect from the fact that there's probably some shmutz on your cameraphone lens, but it is an excellent enhancement to the picture, lending "the phenomenon of brilliance."

You are also a bit luckier than I am -- my iPhone 3G has terrible color consistency from edge to center. I am told the 3GS has a way better camera, but I am not in a position to upgrade. Still, it's nice to have a camera in the pocket.

Aw, thank you! I really trust your opinion on photography, so I take this as high praise.

I used an iPhone 3G for this shot, too, but I've heard there can be some variation in camera quality on different 3G phones. I can't upgrade until January either :(
