100 Words on 100 Words

The latest fic is a series of thirteen 100-word drabbles, and has been remarkably hard to write. Never has the advice “kill your children” been more relevant, or more difficult to follow. I find myself resenting the conjunctions and articles I have to use, because they consume valuable space better filled with nouns, verbs, and adjectives.

I’ve always written compact fiction; the drabbles force even more precision. Still, I like to think of this as an exercise in discipline, rather than an exercise in frustration. And I suppose in about a week, when it’s done, I’ll know whether I’ve succeeded.

Thirteen drabbles??? I admire you. That's some serious self-control and discipline. I ramble; it's what I do best. ::eyes 49,000 words of WIP and sighs::

My husband would joke that it is my Myers-Briggs J nature asserting itself in my fiction. He would probably be right.

(Also, 49,000 words? I admire you for being able to do that. I can't seem to get above 5,000.)

Heh -- we are almost exact opposites! I am an INTJ, the kind of person who is constantly surprised that the rest of the world isn't playing by my rules, because obviously I am right 100% of the time.

Then it might be good that we don't work together. I'm the impulsive, fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants type that likely drives you batty. :)
