They had to bring in another actress for the scene with River -- all the shots of River are from Liz's POV, and you never see both of their faces in the same frame. I'm assuming the Sophie Okenedo bits were shot during TBB.
Well, I'd already heard somewhere that Sophie Okenedo wasn't brought in for filming, so I paid close attention to how that scene was shot, and then it was obvious they'd used a stand-in. The horses were pretty unlikely too, but by then I was all OMG THIS EPISODE GIVES ME FLAILY HANDS OF JOY so I tried to ignore the tiny voice in my head telling me they couldn't possibly really be riding the horses.
It's bits like "omg that is SO SILLY they are not on those horses!" that make me love this show, haha. They did, like, close-ups on their faces as they "rode" the horses! So incredibly silly, so incredibly fun. <3
I'd already seen the preview clip from the Confidential where their horses are actually these gizmos on the back of trucks, but the episode made me not care.
