garden photo time!

The yarrow is in bloom:



I know yarrow is essentially a weed. I don't care; it's pretty.



The giant red bergamot is also in bloom. (You can't tell from this photo, but the plants are a good 3' tall.)



In the front, I've got a fuchsia, some daisies with a purple center, and in this pot, a whole bunch of pale pink dwarf petunias doing their damndest to eat an entire geranium.

Oh, lovely! But why did I think yarrow was yellow?

Some yarrow is yellow -- I might have even had some in the backyard, but I think the red and orange varieties have taken over.

Yarrow ranges anywhere from white to red. Once upon a time I saw a place that was selling mixed seed packets guaranteed to grow you a random assortment of colors.

I suppose as long as we define "not a weed" as "totally a weed, but one we like 'cause its pretty and crowds out the other weeds," we're in agreement ;)
