3-4" of snow, my ass.

You may recall that last Thursday, we got hammered with about 8" of snow. We were scheduled for a nor'easter today, but last night boston.com reported most of the storm was going to miss Boston, leaving us with only an extra 3-4" of snow. And while I'm aware that weather forecasts can change at the drop of a hat, usually a forecast from less than 12 hours before the storm is supposed to start is reasonably accurate, right?
Yeah, I had plenty of time to think about that while shoveling another 8"-12" off the sidewalk this morning.
Remember my lovely rhododendron?

This is what it looks like now:

Similarly, the Knock-Out ...

... now looks like this:

... and the backyard ...

... I figure I might see again in March.

Oh well. Unpredictable weather is the price of living in New England. And my neighbor the construction contractor very kindly used his snowblower to clear our driveway, so I'm sore (again) from shoveling, but much less so than if I'd had to do all that extra work.
One more photo, completely unrelated to the others, just one I've been meaning to take for a while, because it's such a silly composition:

Cocktail squid: a festive decoration for drinks and plants alike.

on 2007-12-16 11:33 pm (UTC)I think this is something like our third or fourth major snowstorm since November. Looking outside, we can't see across the street, and my husband is worrying about how he'll get to work in the morning. (He starts at about 4am, and usually walks, but the streets probably won't be plowed by then!)

on 2007-12-16 11:44 pm (UTC)The car is still partially encased in snow, and I'm hoping the strangely warm weather this evening (seriously, it felt like 50 degrees out there a minute ago, even though it's supposed to be 22) will melt enough of it that we won't have to chip the car out with a chisel like we did that one time. That was fun, let me tell you.
