We all have our own unique talents, but somehow I'd hoped that mine would turn out to be more socially relevant or useful than being able to write a 600-word Pynchon-pastiche crossover between Doctor Who and Gravity's Rainbow.

I don't know where this came from, but it took less than 45 minutes, including the time a couple weeks ago to write Slothrop's song, and I only changed a couple of words in the final editing process. As we say so often around here, the mind is a dark forest.

P.S. If you want to leave a comment -- and I am in no way trolling for comments here, just need to pass along this important information -- please don't reply to the [livejournal.com profile] lifeonmartha entry; reply here instead. We are trying to keep the drabble thread to stories only so that we know when the count hits 1,000.

Not even Pynchon will tempt me.

No, you can't have a my-head-exploding. NOT YOURS.

I like the GR part and of course don't get the Martha part, but you captured Tyrone beautifully.

My one, tiny nit: Shouldn't it be the "screaming" of the V-2 to evoke the first line of the book?
