GOOD MORNING, WE HAVE A NEW DOCTOR

(I am pumped about this even if I realized I am also officially old enough to be the Doctor's mum.)

Anyway, just the other day I was wondering what new series I should pick up in my spare time, and I guess the answer is Sex Education on Netflix, since I've never seen Gatwa in anything.

I know they're not going to do it, but I really hope that the outfit he's wearing in the first image is his actual doctor outfit.

Also, not going to lie: kind of astonished that it wasn't another white guy. If they thought the pushback they got from casting Jodie was bad, this is going to be EPIC. Also surprised that he's so young.

It does, alas, mean that Sacha is done with the Master on screen, which isn't surprising, but it would have been fun to see the two of them up against each other. For entirely not-at-all shallow reasons, of course.

I really had my fingers crossed for a woman of color, but like you, would not have been surprised if it had been another white dude. There is of course already some pushback about how this is just the show being "woke," but those people can take their tweets and shove them directly up their asses.

I'd forgotten that if Dhawan and Martin are doing BF, that almost certainly means we won't see them onscreen in future scenes. I am disappointed for any number of reasons, including the same not-at-all shallow ones you have.

I'm so excited! He was absolutely brilliant in Sex Education and he has the energy and enthusiasm of a 20-something combined with strong acting talent. No getting tired running down all those corridors for him!

I just started the second season of Sex Education last night, and he really is terrific. He has what I look for most in a Doctor beyond raw charisma: he handles comedy and drama with equal skill. Can't wait to see him in action as Fourteen!
