Three posts in two days? It's like I'm becoming some kind of LiveJournal whore.

I'm not going to post all the shots I took today; if you want to see the latest ones, just start at this point in my Flickr garden photoset.

The chives in bloom. I think I'm going to like the macro focus feature on my camera.

I bought the upright fuchsia because I love these flowers, but don't have a good place to hang them. I had no idea an upright version of the plant existed until I ran across it at Russell's House of Crack Garden Center. Have I mentioned how much I like the macro focus feature? I'm extremely happy with this shot.

I forget what horrible plant I pulled from the front garden so that I could put in another rose. Actually, it might have been a rose that, shall we say, failed to thrive after one of our delightful New England winters. This rose, which is about 5 years old, is a Knock-Out, a Canadian variety that laughs at snow and below-zero temperatures. I swear, one winter it got buried under about 6 feet of accumulated snow (we pile the snow in the front garden), and that summer it was more vigorous than ever. It is easily 4 feet tall, extremely bushy, and just now starting to bloom.

And finally, as promised, a cat photo. I decided to let Miss Inu wander around while I shot pictures of the front garden, and next thing I knew, she was nesting in the cosmos, nibbling on grass and iris leaves. I was torn about cropping out my foot from the lower left of this shot -- after all, the only reason it's there is that I was in such a hurry to take the photo before Inu moved again that I didn't even notice it. But cropping out the foot also means cropping out the tiny white cosmos flower at upper left, and [livejournal.com profile] columbina said he liked the composition as is. I could go either way. The important thing about the shot, anyway, is the contrast of calico and cosmos, which I'm quite pleased with.
