I should know better than to try watching another mythology show. Fringe isn't bad so far, and somehow I missed that it's supposed to take place in Boston, which amuses me, but I can't help feeling like I'm watching an X-Files retread. Also, that I'm only going to end up disappointed when the Mysterious Conspiracy Storyline collapses under its own weight. And also, that it was incredibly stupid of me to watch an opening sequence involving a horrific plane tragedy only a few weeks before I have to get on a transatlantic flight. And yet more also, that Joshua Jackson cannot act.
Oh, HA. They're supposed to be in South Boston in the dead of winter. Where the hell are all the traffic cones, garbage cans, and busted-ass dining room chairs marking people's parking spots? Helloooooo, Vancouver, or wherever the hell in Canada this is probably being filmed.
ETA: And in other news about TV I probably shouldn't be watching, Hole in the Wall is way more entertaining than it has any right to be. Either that, or I am somehow still feeling the martini from earlier in the evening.

on 2008-09-10 04:17 pm (UTC)We only lasted through Hole in the Wall by fast-forwarding to the bits with the actual walls. As a five-minute show, it's okay, but Ken kept muttering about how stupid the players were and how if you're making a 2-D silhouette you should just let both your legs go through the easier to reach hole, etc.

on 2008-09-10 04:39 pm (UTC)I agree that Hole in the Wall works best in short bursts. Its final time slot is an hour long, and there's no way I could find it amusing enough for a full hour without several beers.
Naturally, it's more entertaining in the original Japanese. (I love how they have contestants jump through the circle in the Fuji TV logo.)
