Oct. 25th, 2008 02:51 pmCribbed from BoingBoing, John Hodgman's talk from TED on alien abduction and the phenomenon of lost time. As with so much of what Hodgman does, this talk is funny, charming, and at least 50% bullshit. (It also really made me want to write either an original story or fic in which Enrico Fermi is a space alien. You'll see why.)
After I watched this, I followed TED's link to Amazon to see how much they were charging for Hodgman's new book, More Information Than You Require. And in the section on the page where they tell you what other customers buying this book have also bought: the new Neal Stephenson, the new Neil Gaiman, and the latest Futurama DVD. DAMN YOU, AMAZON, AND YOUR DISTURBINGLY PERFECT TARGETING ALGORITHMS.
