And yet I find myself responsible for mailing list configuration and wiki setup for my MIT Mystery Hunt team.
This week, I have:
* Wrestled DadaMail into installing its discussion list plugin
* Failed to convince DadaMail it should let anyone other than me post to said discussion list
* Set up another mailing list on Topica so as not to slow down discussion
* Dealt with complaints about Topica's ads
* Installed and configured MediaWiki (not yet tested, but so far, looks OK)
* Wrestled phpMyAdmin into allowing me to log in again after having to change the MySQL root password
People, I have a creative writing degree. Sure, it's from MIT, but from back in the time when the web did not really exist and dinosaurs roamed the Earth. The little piece of paper I have somewhere in my house proudly announcing my SB does not automatically come with a little, Matrix-style System Administrator plug-in I can use to acquire the necessary knowledge for all this software installation and configuration. Thank god for my husband, who has put up with my cursing and helped translate Geek into Human on several occasions when the instructions I was attempting to read made no sense.
And now, to see if MediaWiki is really working, or merely taunting me. We shall know soon enough.
