nonelvis: (GARDEN bee)

The tree pruners finally left, so I went out to the backyard to check on the damage and discovered that not only is our yard now full of impact craters, my beloved giant rudbeckia is GONE. One hundred percent, totally, completely gone, cut down to a few inches of stalk. It was in full bloom and one of my favorite plants to look at.

I have to think that something large fell on it, and the guys had no choice to cut it back. But I am very, very, very angry that no one checked with me first.

If this plant doesn't come back next year, the neighbor is buying me a new one.

Giant rudbeckia with optional bee accessory, #3

Perhaps a note to the neighbor? In the I-thought-you'd-want-to-know-that-the-tree-thugs-did-this kind of thing. That way, later, when it doesn't come back, they'll remember the incident and what caused it. Just wondrin.

I would still let the neighbors know. We paid our tree guys a small fortune -- if they had damaged something in the neighbor's yard and failed to apologize I would have wanted to know about it, especially if there was a damaged fence that I was going to be on the hook for.

Our tree guys were fabulous and I can't imagine them doing that, but if they had, we'd have gone elsewhere the next time.

That looks like a yellow version of the Echinacea in my parents' garden. Those tree guys suck.

There is a running joke among the film writers I know, that we are all looking forward to the day when we can spell "bastards" correctly again. Seriously, my fingers have stopped autocorrecting when I type "Basterds" now. Damn you, Quentin Tarantino.

You mean that you don't think that it will further loosen spelling habits, or that you resented being reminded that it certainly will?

WTF is with that, anyway? What obscure artistic point is it meant to make?

That blows. I'm sorry. And woe betide the tree-trimmers.
