30 Days of Who meme, day 5: favorite companion

Yeah, not going to settle for one here, either, because I love so many of them. But if there's one common characteristic to the companions I love the most – Romana, Tegan, Donna, and Amy – it's that none of them are afraid to give the Doctor a hard time. They can all puncture his ego, and they can all give as good as they get. And frankly, I think he often needs a strong companion to keep him in line – "you need someone to stop you," as Donna once said.
