The only good thing about both rosebushes being totally covered up like this is that the last time this happened, the big one closest to the front door totally exploded in size that spring. They're bred for cold weather, and I think they *enjoyed* being buried.
The basement only ever floods when we get really heavy rain for days at a time, so I have my fingers crossed that this stuff melts slowly enough that we won't have a flooding problem.
