I'm trying to deal by reminding myself what great exercise snow shoveling is. I was out there for an hour and 20 minutes today, and if my heart rate monitor watch is accurate, I burned 752 calories.

I'd prefer not to have to rely on the Snow Removal Exercise Plan as my primary workout option, though.

...You're not planning to actually, like, garden before, say, September, are you? (And I hope that you have really good weather and foundation seals on your basement!)

The only good thing about both rosebushes being totally covered up like this is that the last time this happened, the big one closest to the front door totally exploded in size that spring. They're bred for cold weather, and I think they *enjoyed* being buried.

The basement only ever floods when we get really heavy rain for days at a time, so I have my fingers crossed that this stuff melts slowly enough that we won't have a flooding problem.

Y'all can keep it -- I live as far north as I'll ever want to. In fact, most of the family feels that way. Elder-Son was none too happy moving a mere 170 miles straight NE from here to go to uni b/c they tend to get a bit more snow. (Of course he was aiming for Pasadena, but that didn't happen.)

Daughter is the only one of us in love with cooler weather of any sort, and like any native SoCal-ian would prefer to "go to the snow" rather than have it come to her. She claims she wants to live somewhere where the temps stay between 40 F and 90 F year 'round. I told her the only place that happened was halfway up the wet sides of Hawaiian volcanoes and "good luck with that."

I generally don't mind dealing with the snow; I consider it part of living in New England. But this is way too much of it, way too quickly.

Daughter might be okay in San Diego. Looks like temperatures range between 50-80 degrees there year-round.

It kinda depends on how close to the ocean you can live in San Diego... SoCal is micro-climate land.

That last one looks a lot like the area in my front yard near my mailbox (which is on the street). I'm running out of places to put the damn snow. I HATE WINTER.

It's ridiculous. Snow is piled up so high at the corners that I have to pull my car way out into the crossing street to see before turning. I'm convinced my front end is going to get nailed.

Wow, that is a lot of snow. Hope you don't keep getting dumped with much more as this Winter progresses. :(

Sadly, it looks like we might get hit again next week. There will also be a little more this weekend, but it sounds like mostly flurries; no big deal.

Now I'm just hoping we don't get any snow to interfere with my trip to Gally.

Considering the last time I went to Gally, my flight was the last off the tarmac at JFK as the snow was falling, oh God yes. *knock on wood, fingers crossed, etc*
